Described as intense, melodic hard rock, Nothing More uniquely adds a twist of
groovy beats and driving riffs to form a matchless quintet. Nothing More gains
influence from bands like Finger Eleven, Blindside, Silverchair, and of course
many others. But they avoid writing in a sculpted, generic manner. “Every song
we write comes from a different direction; we never stop writing music; we still
make changes to our songs every practice, sometimes the smallest of details,
sometimes the entire gist of the song. It’s constantly becoming tighter, and
forming Nothing More’s sound.” explains guitarist, Mark Vollelunga. “When
we started this band, we just wanted to write cool songs, now we’re more
interested in letting go, letting our music evolve and grow. And now in every
song it seems we’re becoming more diverse in our style and sound, and tighter
musically.” Adds, guitarist, Josh Kercheville.
Nothing More’s music is only complimented by their live show. Their energy and
stage presence often infects the crowd who seldom gets a chance for respite.
Watching their performance, one can capture the hard work and emotion poured
into each and every song down their list. “It’s easy to see bands who just
throw things together, but it’s even easier to see bands who love what
they’re doing and work hard at it.” observes Josh Kercheville.
Originating in the San Antonio area, Nothing More has been given the opportunity
to play many different shows. The band has gigged in Boerne, Nelson City,
Austin, and San Antonio, TX. In the summer of 2002, Nothing More won the Hill
Country Battle Of the Bands, competing against many great local talents. The
band hopes to gain a following through playing as many shows in as many places
with as many bands as possible.
In the past, Nothing More has played shows with many bands, of great diversity.
For instance, the band often plays with emo-core group, The Radio,
the renowned group, Space Man Spiff, The Fraternity,
Second String, fellow hard rockers, Lucid Days, Paradigm,
Worlds Of If, Naos Project, Four Star Union, Red
Light District, 2%, Nashville’s, Colour Blind,
and many other talented bands from across Texas and the nation.
Nothing More’s demo, ‘Watch & Learn,’ was recorded at Salmon
Peak Recording Studios, produced by Ralph Jezzard,
engineered by Mark Sinko, and mastered by Billy Stull.
Released in early April, the band experienced a good response from their fans.
“During the recording session, our eyes were opened to certain aspects
of our music that needed improvement. But in the end we were encouraged by the
response when the demo was offered for sale.
” explains drummer, Jonny Hawkins.
As for the future, Nothing More anticipates recording a full-length album, touring the Texas and Louisiana area, expanding their fan base all the while. Nothing More’s song ‘Simple Sign’ awaits the release of the ‘Texas Bred Compilation’ of which it is a part. The future looks bright for this devoted and promising band, who acknowledges God as the source of their talent.
